A message from Greg Bickert, Founder and President of Inspire Property Management:
Our team is excited to once again support #motionball Marathon of Sport for Special Olympics Canada. This campaign helps raise essential funds and awareness, empowering more individuals with #diverabilities to experience the life-changing benefits of sport. Learn more about our 2026 campaign and see highlights from previous years at inspirepm.com/motionball.
This year, our team is proud to recognize an honorary member: my Aunt Janice Bickert.
Janice lived with cerebral palsy and passed away last year. Throughout her life, Special Olympics provided opportunities that brought her friendship, confidence, achievement, and countless joyful memories. Bowling was one of her favourite activities, and anyone who watched her play would quickly understand the joy she found through sport.
Janice had her own unique style on the lanes—straddling the approach, rocking side to side, and throwing the ball with both hands. After a good shot, she would often get so excited that she'd do a twirl, sometimes ending with an unexpected slide onto her rear end, leaving everyone around her laughing right along with her. The friendships, experiences, and sense of belonging she found through Special Olympics enriched her life in immeasurable ways.
Her story is a powerful reminder that Special Olympics is about much more than sport. It creates opportunities, builds confidence, fosters inclusion, and helps individuals of all abilities experience the joy of being part of a community.
In honour of Janice's life and legacy, we have created a special fundraising campaign in her memory. A donation to Janice's campaign would be deeply meaningful to me and my family while helping future athletes experience the same opportunities, friendships, and sense of belonging that meant so much to her.
