Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 8, 2022

On mother’s day we celebrate mothers and motherhood. It takes a village to raise a child, but a village is nothing without its mothers.

Inspire Property Management employs mothers in all departments of the company. We are proud to provide careers that provide a work-life balance that does not require mothers to choose between work (and reasonable pay) or parenting.

Mother’s day is a time of joy and celebration for many. But, Mother’s Day can be a difficult time for many parents and children. This year, we especially wish to recognize mothers who were traumatized by residential schools, especially those who personally suffered or whose children were abused, lost to death, or lost to mental illness from trauma by residential schools.

Bear Witness Day – Tuesday, May 10, 2022

Bear Witness Day celebrates the anniversary of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal’s order for Canada to fully implement Jordan’s Principle. All Canadians can celebrate by bringing a bear to work, school or daycare in honour of Jordan River Anderson.

Jordan’s Principle is a legal rule named in memory of Jordan River Anderson, a First Nations child from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba. Born with complex medical needs, Jordan spent more than two years unnecessarily in hospital, waiting to leave, while the Province of Manitoba and the federal government argued over who should pay for his at home care—care that would have been paid for immediately had Jordan not been First Nations. Jordan died in the hospital at the age of five years old, never having spent a day in a family home.

Victoria Day – Monday, May 23

Falling on the last Monday preceding May 25th, Victoria Day is a statutory holiday to celebrate the Royal Sovereign’s Birthday. The date of the celebration was originally based on the birthday of Queen Victoria, whose actual birthday was May 24th. But it is now the official date that Canada celebrates the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, whose actual birthday is April 21st.
